Introducing some upcoming TACP events
Monday, November 10, 2008 20:11With December quickly approaching, the girls at TACP are busy planning a wide-array of exciting projects to be launched in the new year. Among these projects, we will be hosting two fabulous events, including another Innovation Series and a brand new music remix competition called Your Big Break. We’re still working to finalise the details for both of these events, but in the meantime, we just wanted to help keep you in the loop by giving you a sneak peak at what’s in the works for this next year…
The Innovation Series is a set of dynamic, interactive presentations by leading global business mentors, entrepreneurs and theorists, who will share the inside track on innovation within the corporate environment. These presentations will engage, inform and inspire South African business people to both contribute to and nurture their organizations’ enterprise leadership in South Africa.
Following the success of last year’s Innovation Series, which featured Wikipedia founder, Jimmy Wales, we have decided to expand the series and host five different sessions that address various themes relating to digital innovation. The series will begin by introducing the notion of digital collaboration in businesses as a way to drive innovation and growth. It will then move through the evolution of open business models by contextualizing digital collaboration within a socio-economic environment and the final sessions will address social networking technologies in business practices.
The Innovation Series provides the opportunity for attendees to learn firsthand from the world’s leading business thinkers and doers on how to maximize business margins and compete in the new ‘sharing’ economy. Attendees will gain insight as they explore cutting-edge business paradigms, enabling them to reassess their current business practice and grow their enterprise into a more innovative and competitive South African entity.
Your Big Break is a nation-wide digital music remix competition that will seek out South Africa’s up and coming music producers and give them an opportunity to make their Big Break into the music industry! The first phase of the competition will focus on digital music remixing, sampling, and producing, while the second phase will focus more on the music industry side.
The competition will launch with a website that provides downloadable resources, including tips and tutorials on music remix, music samples, and free music editing software for use on both computers and mobile phones to assist contestants in creating their own original track. Contestants will enter the competition by submitting a fully original track using the samples and music remix software on the competition website.
Judges will then choose the semifinalists that will move on to the next phase of the competition. The semifinalists will be attending workshops and seminars to learn the ins and outs of the music industry. They’ll learn how to promote their music, how to get their music played on the radio and at clubs, how to build a fan base, and how to network and interact in the industry. Following these seminars, the semifinalists will take what they’ve learned and make the most out it. They’ll have one month to promote their music and build their fan base as they work to generate the most votes of any of the contestants. Fans will be able to vote online or by SMS. Whoever receives the most votes wins!
We’ll be posting updated information as we finalise the plans for both of these great events, so be sure to stay tuned!
